Artist to Artist: International Residency Program
Call out for Host Membership:
Art Science Exhibits Berlin launches an innovative residency program for professional Visual Artists, Curators, and Art Administrators, which includes stipends for Host Members worldwide.
As more artists enter the international artworld, more and more artists pay out of pocket for residency opportunities. And the residencies that do offer support, most often, can’t offer connections to regional artists, curators, or exhibition venues.
By providing this expanding network for members, and by keeping the money in the pockets of friendly artists, Art Science Exhibits presents the solution.
With Artist to Artist, international Host Art Professionals offer engaging, one-on-one residencies to fellow professional artists - by sharing their home or studio, regional network, and resources. In turn, Host Members will be provided with a stipend from their visiting Guest Artist. Whilst sharing, Host Members likewise gain connections to each of their visitors' networks.
With Artist to Artist, Art Professionals have the possibility to expand their opportunities globally and exponentially.
About us:
Art Science Exhibits Berlin has grown from increasing our network of artist interaction and, we believe, so can you. Since 2016 we have provided large-scale exhibitions and leading-edge programs with artists and scientists at Yale University, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Winterthur, Switzerland, and at an official Palazzo of the 2019 Venice Biennale.
At present, we have exhibited the work of artists from: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Thailand, the UK and the USA.
How it works:
As creatives, Host Members have their choice of offering deliverables to attract future Guest Artists. Your offer might include participation in an upcoming exhibition, working alongside your guest in your studio, or an introduction dinner to regional artists and curators. You are free to design your own offer.
Host Artists agree to house the Guest Artist in Residence in their home and/or art studio for a time period of two to six weeks. Hosts choose the time frame.
Art Science Exhibits will review Guest Artist applications from 3 months prior to your hosting them. Hosts have the final choice of applicants and can also set up video meetings with Guest Artists before accepting.
We expect Guest Artist stays and travel to be fully funded eventually. For now, Guest Artists will be provided with our letters of recommendation for applicable grants and for universities that may pay for sabbaticals.
Guests Artists pay a reasonable rate, up to €700 per month for their stay with a Host, depending upon location. Guest Artists payments are paid to Art Science Exhibits via PayPal. Art Science Exhibits retains only 30% of the Guest Artist’s payment for our administration. Your stipend is assured by contract and will arrive in your PayPal account once your guest is accommodated. In the mean time, the payment acts as a deposit to assure a residence for the Guest Artist traveler.
Once a Host's application is selected for membership, we iron out specific details through a personal video meeting (Skype) with you. We then send the contract, which includes a one time membership fee of €200. When the contract is signed and funds are secured, your residency is posted.
Art Science Exhibits promotes your unique invitation on the International Residency page of our site, alongside a slideshow of your location. (Our site clocks up to 650 new views per week). Further advertisements are placed on art platforms that point artists directly to your listing.
When applying for Host Membership, you have the added benefit of familiarizing Art Science Exhibits with your work, which we may consider for our future exhibitions and programs.
Host Membership Applications:
